CONCEPT

Located in a beautiful courtyard behind the Oranienstraße in Berlin's Kreuzberg district, VooStore is a 300 m² concept store filled with fashion, art and treasures from around the world, nestled in a fashion shopping environment far from the fashion district usual, but with the same standards level.

How did you find your creative director?

It was easy. I met him at a public relations agency. He really is a geographer. I often find it much better to work with people who don't come from a fashion background.

Does your concept store really belong to Kreuzberg?

I would say Kreuzberg is the only place in Berlin where our kind of concept store can work. Kreuzberg is different from the rest of Berlin - our shop too. You need to do some research in advance and be looking for something new, or interested in fashion, to come find us in this backyard. I like that.

How do you find the right products for the store?

Sometimes it's just a coincidence if our creative director Herbert Hofmann or I find something or someone emails us a proposal. Sometimes we find things in a collection of a brand that we knew about from previous years. The selection process is very important: we think a lot before choosing an item, but if we are convinced of it, it always sells.

Have there been any highlights so far?

I am always happy when people come to Kreuzberg in search of Flight. Several fashion designers and other famous people came to us. But most of all, I love seeing someone on the street wearing our clothes.

And the concept stores in Turkey - have you thought about that?

I have friends in Turkey who run their own stores. Everyone says it's too hard. People with some money in Turkey have a different style, it's what I would call new rich, and it's hard to fight back.

What awaits us after Flight?

I think I will travel a lot next year. My brother has just made his debut film and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival competition. He's going to fight Fatih Akin and I'm very proud of him. I think he is a real artist. After Cannes, we want to participate in various film festivals around the world - Tokyo, for example. I look forward to doing something new and finding new motivation again.
